About the Artist

Seeing the World in Color

My entire life, I have seen the world in color — and not just color, but many shades of color. On walks through the forest, I was aware of greens that defy man-made pigment. A single rose is never just one color, but many colors of different intensity, each petal telling its own story.

Color and color combinations have woven themselves through my career and my leisure time in one form or another, for as long as I can remember.

Finding My Niche

Seven years ago, I decided to retire. I'm 83 now, in case you're wondering.

A new friend of mine was winning prizes for her oil paintings at a local painters' luncheon. I decided to join her — but not with oils. I didn't want to compete, so I tried my hand at watercolor instead. I won several awards and happily found my niche for my senior years.

I painted pictures for friends' birthdays, for Christmas gifts, and simply because the urge to create never left me. Then I began painting and tucking the pictures away in a box — where they stayed, quietly waiting.

From the Box to the World

That all changed when my son said, "Mom, I want to let the world see your paintings." I handed him the box, and here we are.

These days, I sit and paint almost daily, my puppy asleep on a chair nearby. The rest, as they say, is history.
